Kevin Mansell-Abell from local company thatgraphicdesigner.co.uk approached the Central Kaff youth club with the project concept ‘Don’t believe everything you hear”. Kevin wanted to inspire local youth, by putting their creativity to good use, in the aid to further improving their centre facilities.
The project has been unfolding over the past couple of weeks, designed to encourage creativity within the town’s youth. Kevin has worked closely with the young people who use the centre, taking their creative skills and applying them as large-scale graphics within the main internal area. Well received by the youth of Chepstow, they set about designing, colouring, drawing and applying their creativity by putting pen to paper.
Interactive blackboard walls and spaces that allow young people to show and share their drawings and designs are just some of the ways in which Kevin has tried to encourage creativity, providing a space where they can show and be proud of their work.
Kevin stated “I love working with projects like this, where you can see the direct affect your designs have. The young people were so eager to get involved with the project, and it seems that they love the results, I’m looking forward to seeing how the artwork evolves.
He also would like to mention, “the whole project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of all of the contributors. Local firms ‘Brians Hardware’ and ‘The Kitchen Shop at Caerwent’ both assisted in the projects success. A thanks must go out to all that rolled up their sleeves to add a lick of paint.”
